First flying lesson

2 July 2022

A very rough cut of my first flying lesson from North Weald Flight Training.

After the initial taxi and take off from North Weald in G-BIJW (Cessna 152), I flew my instructor Scott over towards Southend (before having to circle Hanningfield Reservoir until they let us in!) over the airport and then over the pier, then down the Thames over the QE2 bridge before joining the circuit back at North Weald.

It was an absolutely glorious day (even if there were a couple of strong gusts!). I already know I really need to check the placement of the camera before setting off (no one needs to see the roof of the aircraft!) so that I make sure I capture what my hands are doing (and head). I might try with a head mounted camera next time?

I’m open to all comments from experienced pilots so please point out anything you think I should work on (Just a note, I didn’t do the take off or landing).
