Repairs, servicing and MOT – Not too long now!
I’ve wanted to get to the final staging of servicing and MOT for a long time, well ever since I started this. But to be honest, I didn’t think it would be this soon, something which I’m seriously happy about.
Just to give you an update, there’s a local servicing garage near where I live, which services quite a large area. However, it’s not the easiest place to get to and from when you don’t have a car (it’s about a 30 minute walk), and when the weather isn’t on your side!
Initially this was my plan, to have the car come here for the major repairs, full servicing and an MOT, with the hope that this would be the last place it goes to before driving away.
This was until very recently a very local second hand dealership down the road from me suddenly opened a servicing garage at the back. We’re talking a walk of 5 minutes or even less from my house to them.
So I decided to walk down there and just try and speak with someone about what I was doing, and seeing if they’d be able to help. I found myself having an extremely pleasant conversation with the owner who was more than interested in the car and what I’m doing.
So that instantly made up my mind, they are going to collect the car with their own transport on Monday 18th May, and an initial set of works involves a new timing belt kit (And anything that usually goes with it) and an inspection that would normally happen as part of an MOT. At this point, it would be clear for them to see if there’s anything else major that needs doing.
After that, a full service and an MOT to then get a good idea of the list of repairs needed, and to basically take it from there. So, happy days on that front!
